Pop ups are a sign that your PC is infected with adware. Scan your PC with both of these to find and remove it. Both are free and safe to use.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free.

Scan your system with the Free Home Version of Superantispyware found here : http://www.superantispyware.com

Download it, Install it, Check for an update first, Scan your computer and chose Custom Scan. Sit back and let it do it's thing, after it finishes, remove what it found.

Also scan with... :

X-Cleaner Micro Edition on line Scanner Powered by ActiveX found here :http://www.spywareguide.com/onlinescan.php

The Active X download will pop up in your yellow information bar, download it and install it. If the scanner doesn't pop up right away, click once more on the xcleaner picture on the website, that usually jump starts it.

Remove what suspicious programs it finds.

**Important**

Sometimes when spyware is removed from a system, and the spyware is embedded deep within a system it can affect your Internet connection because, the spyware has damaged what is known as the winsock. The winsock is what allows you to access the Internet. Download the WindowsXP Winsock Fix program, and Save the File to your Desktop. If after you run the two above scanners and you have an issue connecting to the Internet, run the WindowsXP Winsock Fix program. This will correct the issue.

You can block popups using the web browsers options.

How to use Internet Explorer's Pop up ad Blocker

1. Open up Windows Internet Explorer
2. Click "Tools" menu and scroll to Pop-up Blocker, and then click Pop-up Blocker Settings
3. If you select High, Internet explorer will attempt to block all pop ups both good and bad.

If you want to allow pop-up windows from a specific Web site, type the URL into "Allow" box, and then click "Add".

However this is not always a 100% effective. A third party blocker is much more effective. Check out this sites for more information. Hope this helps!

first put a tool bar, maybe the google one, it blocks popups...
then install an spyware removal software like ad-aware or something and make a full scan on your computer in case that's the problem

Do a virus scan, and spyware scan. Make sure all your virus definitions are up to date. A good spyware removing program is spyware doctor. Adaware is pretty nice too. Avoid downloading too many things you dont know, so you dont get spyware installed on to your pc.

Well I would suggest that you get a pop-up blocker. You can try getting some on google by simply typing pop-up blocker in the search bar. You can also go to www.download.com and type pop-up blocker in the search bar and see what you get. Good Luck!

Try this...
