I am going to high school this year.
We have lockers that we all get.
But I have heard that in our high school...your locker is everyone elses, because anyone can break into any ones locker and steel stuff, and people do!
So should I get a backpack and carry it around with me at all times. (whitch we are alowed to do)
or
Should I just empty my stuff into my locker and go to my locker threw out the day and get the stuff I need at that time and risk getting books and stuff stolen.
or
should I keep my back pack with me at times but just drop off my books at my locker when I dont need them, because they are heavy and they will most likely hurt my back if i carry them all day.

Any storys you can share or perosnal experience or advice whould be helful.

thanks!

Use a backpack and a locker.

A backpack because:
- Your locker might be too far and you can't get there in time.
- Your locker might not open when you want it to, or, if you
can't remember the combination.

A locker because:
- You have heavy books.
- You can keep extra stuff in there in case you forgot to bring
something, like a pencil, one day.

Go into the school office and ask the people working there if you can get some other kind of lock or supply your own. Research different kinds of locks. I think I've even heard of laser locks. So you just point the "key" at your locker, press a button and it locks it. But those might be expensive and I don't know that your school would allow those lasers. Otherwise, I'd carry all your books in your backpack even though it's a huge pain. You don't want a $200 book fine at the end of the year. Good luck!

I never used my locker in high school. But, my locker was in a remote location, and I had a block schedule (6 classes with 3 classes every other day). The good news is not every class requires you to bring a textbook every day, like in English class you usually just need the novel you are reading. But if you are carrying a lot of textbooks every day, you should consider a rolling backpack. It might look dorky but it will save your back.

Locker robberies are a real problem. At my school, one girl had her locker broken into (they ripped the door off; no lock can stop that) and all her books were stolen. She still had to pay the school for the missing books.

I would be very surprised if your lockers don't have locks on them. Most do, so no one else can get into your locker. I would check and see if they do have locks.

However, I wouldn't recommend getting a backpack and putting all your books in there. Your back would hurt like crazy.
Lugging around at least 4 text books, binders, and notebooks wouldn't be fun!

Yeah its sorta like that at my school too. We just keep the books and things we don't need in our locker and get them on the days we need them..Just ask the teacher on the day before if you're going to use that book and you only take the books and supplies that you need in your back pack.

I always use a backpack, its easier. But then again, I'm six foot 230lbs so a heavy backpack doesn't bother me. I would wait and see if the locker theft thing is just a rumor, or if it really happens.

I had the same problem, so I just got a combination lock. No one can break in now
