I don't know if you could consider them "today" but I'd say Nirvana.
U2 and Red Hot Chili Peppers are really good too.

Of course I'd say Ozzy.. But if I had to choose a modern band or artist, I'd say John Mayer..

there are soooo many good bands out there and you cant compare their music with other bands because they are so different, atleast the good bands are.
