I thought he was supposed to be this big time player. What happened?

Weak lineup, inusfficient team leadership, little organizational vision and almost no pressure to perform.

Talent is never enough to guarantee success. He's young and rich and there isn't anyone around him to motivate or push the kid beyond his comfort zone. If his environment doesn't change or he doesn't find the inner drive that comes with maturation, he may very well become a cautionary tale in a few years.

Rick Nash is overrated and very streaky. However, he is a very good goal-scorer and I imagine he will finish his career with a few hundred goals. The fact is, Nash managed to tie-the league lead in goals in a year where the NHL was desperate for a new star (that was pre-Crosby and Ovechkin, and right when the league was bracing for the lockout), so he got overhyped. He simply isn't good enough to live up to this type, especially since he is one of the only legitimate scoring threats on Colombus, so he is easily neutralized.

His game is very limited in the new NHL though, and this is partly because he is a one-trick horse. He can score goals, but that's about it. He's not a very good passer, and registers very few assists. However, this is a part of his game that would greatly improve if he played with a skilled center. If he had a good center feeding him, and they both stayed healthy, Nash could easily lead the league in goals again, but those are both big "Ifs".

Nash is one of the 10 best players in the NHL.........however, the team he is on has won fewer games the last 6 years than any other team.

In other words, he is being held back because
a) his team lacks talent
b) the other most talented player on his team (Nikolai Zherdev) can't get along with anybody!

If Zherdev ever gets out of his personal funk and realizes that to be a star in this league you have to play well with others, Zherdev and Nash can be an awesomely powerful duo!

But since the only one of the pair making an effort is Nash (and he freely admits he hates Zherdev) it is a lesson if futility!

Rick Nash can play. The thing is he has tons of injury problems and he plays for a crappy, defensive team like Columbus. The kid knows how to score, he just has to get the opprotunity.

The reason Nash isn't winning anymore Rocket Richard trophies is that the management sucks so they don't get him anyone who is good to play with and Hitchcock, the coach, is one of the most defensive coaches you will see so it's hard to score a ton of goals playing in a defensive system. It doesnt't matter to me though, although I am a leafs fan, Nash is still my favorite player

Yeah Red, we all were asking that after last season. He's nursed a few nagging injuries but at the world championships last spring when teamed with some decent players, he stole the show. I think he needs the hell out of Columbus. That club is a joke. (Columbus fans take note, we said the same about the Devils about 20 years ago).

What happened was that he wound up on the Blue Jackets. One amazing player does not a team make. In 2011 he will probably go to a contender and we'll all see how amazing he is.

Did you see him in the Allstar game? The kid's amazing.

Have you seen him play in the world championships? Holy cow....one word: phenomenal.

The only reason why he's not big with the Jackets is because he has no support. The management running the team is the equivelant of Bettman.

Hes what they predicted. AWESOME! He just has no team. His players suck. If he had a half decent team not so young he'd be a scoring machine. Have you seen how he protects that puck?! PHENOMENAL. Ive never seen anyone use their body to protect a puck like that. Strong, good shot but bad team. Once he gets good players watch out, top 10 scorer! GUARANTEED!
