'It's because you pick your friends. Plus, you don't really know someone until you've lived with them and seen how they behave around every situation. You've seen your family at it's best and at it's worst. Your family is your family despite all the good and bad stuff. Just concern yourself lucky, some people don't have a family and they don't have anyone to share family stuff with. Even though you think that family sometimes treat you bad, have you ever though of how you treat your family. This good treatment verus bad treatment goes both ways and in the end your family still loves you even though they may drive you crazy sometimes and you drive them crazy sometimes. So don't be so hard on them and they won't be so hard on you. Remember give and take both ways. If you had to live with some of your friends, do you think you would think the same thing about them.

Because family is "safe".
Even you have to admit that you treat your friends better than you do your own family...because in the end, a friend can just pick up and leave - but through it all, when the chips are down, you know you can count on family.

You can't lose your family. No matter what you do, or how horrible you are to them, your family will always be your family. There is comfort in that, and unfortunately, there is also a certain amount of gratitude lost in that. Friends don't always stay friends, so I think we tend to work harder to keep what we could lose if we take them for granted.

I think it always appears that our friends are treating us better because they think the same way we do. It's hard to remember that what our parents do (saying no, grounding) is normally done out of love. Try to look at it from their point of view, it might help you understand.

Our family is normally(unless there are problems)nice to us, its just that they are nice in a way that's protecting us and disciplining us. Friends are their just as friends no matter the situation the do things to have fun with us or agree with us and make us feel better.

Sorry to hear that sweetie :(
Look, we can't choose our family (which is sometimes very unfortunate) but you can for sure choose your friends!
Make sure you surround yourself with good and caring people to make-up for the difference. Once, you have a good support group with you, the life gets easier;)
Much love

you feel like that because you have known your family for along time and we tend to take each other for granted as we grow older we tend to remember those wonderful moments we have shared together as family and at that stage friends might have move on but we still love each other anyway as family
