If not, what do you propose should be done about the constant flow of Harry Potter spam caused by people who are apparently too mentally retarded to search for questions before they ask them?

All I'm saying is that people should learn how to search for questions before they ask them.

i love the books but there are way to many repeat questions and i think people need to stop. Most of there questions would be answered if they just read the damn books

Obviously I can't delete your question.

Yahoo! Answers have a lot of idiotic questions about anything, it's not just Harry Potter. Give these people some slack, a month from now, questions would die down when almost everyone have finished reading the book and watched the last movie. If you care to observe, the questions have relatively lessened compared to the weeks before and after the final book's release. HP fans would be lucky to find one question about Harry in the list of four Open Questions at present.

Not everyone who knows how to surf the net automatically knows what to do. There are a lot of kids out there who might be as young as grade schoolers or those from other countries where English is not their first language, who are just too excited to post a question even if they lose 5 points for it the way you did just now. It's easier to label people as "mentally retarded" especially when you're pissed off, I guess it's harder to master the mechanics of YA.

The questions on Harry Potter fans posed are just like any other questions on any other category. Harry Potter is what interests them at the moment and it is not their intention to piss people who hate Harry Potter like you. They just want answers, they just want their opinions heard, they just want to simply avail of YA like you do.

I am not that fanatic about Harry Potter as I have other interests, too. But right now, I love answering questions about the series because I love the books and I get a high when my answer is chosen.

There is nothing that can be done about the flow of Harry Potter questions. I would suggest you try being a little tolerant about people who differ from your views and interests. I could throw you insults and profanities but that would be going down to your level and it would not make me different from you. Cast away your angst, brother and turn your energies into something more productive than negative labeling of people.

Oh, and yes, I have encountered questions very similar to yours. I won't say that you should have searched, too, before you posted. Whether you did or not is beside the point, since obviously, YOU WANTED YOUR OPINION TO BE KNOWN, TOO.

Have a good day.

Well some of the questions are actually interesting, but some just make me wonder about the intelligence of people. Like when they have read the book and ask "How did Harry come back to life?", he never died, I guess some people are just too stupid to realize this.

Anyway, the problem could probably be solved it there was simply a "Harry Potter" section under Arts and Humanities.

Not everyone keeps talking about Harry Potter because they don't feel like looking up other questions. I mean, it's a 7 book series that took a long time to go through if you were there from the beginning. Some people just keep opening questions so that they can talk to other people who love the series because they're a little sad that it's finally over. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Should your question be automatically deleted, too????
I think you should learn to respect others people interests, If you don't like Harry Potter questions just don't answers them, this questions are as valid as yours.

I Have to agree only in one thing, and is that there's lot of questions in here about Harry Potter and maybe, discussions about Harry Potter books should be added as a category, this way will easier to find for those that like HP and will not fill the category of Books & authors.

Well by your reasoning then, no one should be asking questions in this section, because they're (and I quote) "too mentally retarded to search for questions before they ask them". Wouldn't that hold true with every other piece of literature ever written, no questions about Shakespeare, or the bible, or Lord of the Rings, I mean they were all written so long ago surely no one but "mentally retarded" people would have questions about the?. I'm sure if people searched they'd find the answers, so by your reasoning, no one should ask questions here, but rather do their own research. So why bother having the category at all? Wouldn't it stand to reason that if questions about a series of books that haven't been out that long aren't welcome, then questions about older texts would just be idiotic? I mean there's been a lot more time to answer questions about Shakespeare than Harry Potter. It is a fairly negative train of thought. Perhaps if you don't like Harry Potter questions don't answer them, or read them. I see no reason why someone should be penalised for seeking knowledge, and doing so by asking questions here.

I would totally agree with you, if I weren't posting Harry Potter questions at the moment. On a serious note, I do agree that there is a bunch of HP stuff on here. I think people should search for their questions before they ask them. As a matter of fact, I checked your questions and I found several that were under the question search that had answers and were resolved. Maybe you should check your questions before posting and stop clogging this site with cry baby rants!! Don't worry about the HP fans, it will die down sooner or later.

No, of course not. Why should they? They must be, so why not just ignore their questions, like you do to a child who won't stop asking the same questions over and over again.

Well you COULD ignore them I mean I've noticed you seem to feel the need to answer every HP question by pelting the asker with diatribe. Why? I think it would be rather stupid to discourage people from asking questions on a site *devoted to question asking and answering*.
