I went with my friend to get her mac in the store but i would have to drive 2.5 hrs to get there and with gas prices the way they are i would rather just buy it online.

How does it work when you are buying it with the education discount online. How do i prove that i am a college student? Do they just ask me for my student number or something?

Anyone done this?

When you log in to the Apple education store, they ask you what city & state your college is in and then which college you are going to. You just check it. Apple will usually contact your college to make sure you are a student or they may ask you for a copy of your I.D. When I bought my first Mac, they phoned my principal to make sure I was a teacher at the school. After that, they didn't bother and just trusted me. I now have an iMac and a MacBook. Both work flawlessly. You'll get free shipping and an iPod Nano as a college student.

If I remember correctly you will need a photocopy of your class schedule or a copy of your college ID. You will still have to pay your states sales tax and shipping unless they have a free shipping promotion.

I bought a MacBook Pro a few months ago -- it was a complete waste of $$$ so I sold it on Ebay a week later. Save your time and money and just buy a cheap PC.
