Sadly no -- it seems that a great many people still take what politicians tell them at face value -- without ever thinking about the inconsistencies to past statements, and without ever reading further to find out what's really going on.

The expected result of an education system that teaches children to repeat back what they've been told without ever thinking about it and without asking questions.

Obviously not, or they would not continue to elect people who are more beholden to the business and private interests who support their campaigns than to the voters themselves.
