...that the creators of Y!A originally meant for Polls & Surveys to become what it has? What do you think their original intent was?

I notice this category comes under the heading Entertainment and Music. So I don't think they intended serious scientific or political poll information. Just opinions and perhaps a bit of humor. For example, what pajama top goes well with purple pooka-dot pants?

I think they meant for it to have a more formal structure of actual polls and surveys. I like the pot pourri that it is much better, a little sampling of everything. It is also a place where you can get a much quicker answer, if time is of the essence.

Not exactly, but they might have wanted to see what people are thinking...what is going on out there and what peoples concerns and interests might be among other things. It seems that the Questions, Opinions and Responses are in most cases incredibly unique.

They probably actually meant for it to become a section for polls and surveys... I wonder how it actually became like this...

I think it was meant for polls, and surveys.. not all this crazy stuff, that we all enjoy being on here.

they most likely invented it because wonderfully lighthearted people kept posting polls/surveys in other categories, therefore "ruining" the serious atmosphere. so Yahoo! gave in and gave us P&S - what else could they do? that concludes the history of our beloved category :).
