I think the DaVinci Code was a great book but I would take everything in it with a grain of salt. I was watching a show on History Channel the other day and one of the scholars said "The page at the beginning of the book that states: All places, groups and secret rites are factual, comes after the title page". This is true and it is also true that some of the stuff that he has treated as facts are not. Dan Browns book is a great story and definitely gives us something to think about but I would not take it as fact. Do some research before you make up your mind.

BTW - Angels and Demons by Dan Brown was much better than The DaVinci Code

Yeah, the DaVinci Code was actually meant to be a work of fiction, but a lot of people, like you, take it as fact. Just because they reference another book doesn't make it non-fiction. Just some random side note- did you know that L. Ron Hubbard (the "creator" of Scientology) was a Science Fiction writer? Some people read his books and marked it as pure genius and they all created a religion out of it. Stupid, right?

There is a reason that The Da Vinci Code is not found in the Reference section of the library--it's because it's fiction.

Dan Brown has built a best seller on a handful of theories and a lot of imagination. The problem arises when people take it as literal truth and forget that this is a product of a writer's imaginative weaving of all of these things together.

A much more plausible theory as to the "secret" encoded in the painting of The Last Supper is found in The Secret Supper, by Javier Rivera.

A lot of Brown's "historical fact" is just fiction that he's made up or pulled from other unsubstantiated accounts. The Da Vinci code is a work of fiction. The History Channel has done a few very good and very interesting documentary works on the "history" of the Da Vinci Code.

More than once, the bible has been rewritten to suit the will of man, often by people of such questionable character that it would make modern christians aghast and distraught that they were taken for a ride by such people.

Imagine a world where we lived according to the philosophy, "as it harms none, do as you will" instead of by the harsh bigotry and diseased hatred of Leviticus and Romans.

It is to weep.
