Have you ever read anything by C. S. Lewis?
You might like his Narnia series. I personally love them, they are fantasy books geared towards children but with deep truths that make them beloved by adults as well. If you like Harry Potter you might also enjoy Eragon and Eldest by Christopher Paolini, these books are also fantasy epics involving dragons, magic, war, elves, and the like. I hope this helps!

I'm almost done with book 3 of 3 in Phillip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" series. (The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass) Really good! Read "The Golden Compass" before the movie comes out!
