If you get yourself a book you will find that iguanas eat mainly veggies. I have had luck feeding baby pink mice to them also. The protein helps them grow rapidly and their color will be awesome. Skip lettuce unless you use "Romain" lettuce. "Iceberg" lettuce does not have any nutrition.

Iguanas are herbivores or folivores, which means that they are plant eaters. They eat leafy greens, fruit, and fresh, uncooked vegetables that are grated and chopped to a size appropriate to the size and age of the iguana.
Watch the size of the food chunks you feed to your iguana. Think about the size of your pet's stomach and how much more food he can get in there if it's in small bits. Grated food is best but if you chop, chop into tiny, bite-sized pieces. Leafy greens can be torn into the appropriate size. And you can grow greens in your garden for your iguana.

Please call your local vet. They may have free information that tells you exactly what to feed the iguana. They can be complicated to feed. They need a good ratio. Calcium and phosphorus. As a young baby weeks to months old for fun you could give him crickets or meal worms but only a couple times a month. As it gets older it doesn't really need it. They don't really need companionship. They might fight if they live long enough. Needs full spectrum light. Lizards also need heat to digest their food. ( NO ICEBERG LETTUCE. Just a water product NO NUTRIENTS. ) Need dark leafy greens. Dandelion greens, Kale, escarole, frozen mixed veggies, clover, no junk food. Sometimes national pet supply stores like PETCO or PETSMART also have free info in-store or on line. They can easily die from malnutrition.

Check out these sites for full care info. They need heat, UVB, water source, fresh salad daily, and a pool to soak in. They need very large cages as well.
