First of all, when you take a test, one line shows up by itself. That is the control line. You have to WAIT for the second line, but dont wait past the recommended period of time, or the line you are seeing could be an evaporation line. In this case, since the other tests have been negative, I would say the second line was an evaporation line. But next time, dont throw your test away as soon as one line shows up. Wait the recommended period of time for the second line. The first line just indicates that the test is working. Its the second line, or lack of, that matters.

You are not pregnant. Most tests will show a false positive after 10 mintues. It says right in the directions.
The reason why is that there enough of whatever hormone in your urine to eventually cause the chemical reaction with the test necessary to produce a false positive. When you're pregnant there is a higher concentration of that hormone in you urine to cause an immediet, or at least in under 5 minutes reaction to produce a true positive.

At 28 days late I would still contact my doctor to make sure. You may just have skipped a period due to changes in diet, stress or exercise.

12. The line appeared after the 10-minute time limit. Is it still positive? No. You can't rely on any test results that appear after the time limit. There is a reason the tests have a time limit-- and torturing us is not usually that reason ;) If a line appears in the "results" window after the time specified in the directions, wait a couple days and test again. HPT's are rapid assay diagnostics, which means any results appearing after the "rapid" time limit of 10 minutes are invalid-- after this time, natural changes in the chemicals may cause lines to appear.

The box always tells you not to read a negative result after 30 minutes, as it might appear positive, which could be a false positive. In any case, I would suggest going to the doctor to take another blood test just to be sure. Good luck!

The test is not valid after 10 minutes. It dries and the test line will show a line called an evaporation line.
