Obama the great pitcher that he is tried to slide this fast ball (health care reform) right past the American people.People started to take a hard look at this and they didn't like what they saw.A grass roots movement started and the people started going to the town halls en mass, the fact their representatives could not properly answer their questions started a fire.Sarah Palin with the power of Facebook used hyperbole in her blog that really pushed the debate along. As a result of this that part of the provision was dropped from the proposed bill in the senate. The more staged town halls that the president has the worst it is getting for him.Now Obama has agreed to drop the Public Option from the bill and from what I have read he may not have enough votes to push it through. This is a major defeat for the Obama administration and hopefully the American people are starting to see the dangerous road that he is trying to take this country. We went into Iraq and destroyed Saddam's regime. We won. We stuck around to try and rebuild the country and prevent it from slipping into anarchy. That's not going so well. The Iraqis keep killing each other. I wouldn't say that's a defeat for America.

If China invaded America and destroyed our army but couldn't keep the peace because Americans descended into some sort of race war, would that be a defeat for China? No, the Chinese still won, they just weren't able to rebuild the country.

The British Empire is currently a fraction of its former self, the French Colonies are basically long since independent, and on and on covering other former colonial powers. . and you think that the US victory in Iraq is the biggest defeat Imperialism has suffered?

Since you missed a few things in history class, go out and read some books on the topic.

Iraqi's were definitely underestimated by this administration!

Their battle of will has been engrained in them for 1000's of years!

The Bush administration had NO idea!

You are on the wrong forum--this one tries to give real info, not the regurgitated propaganda you're after.

As for a real answer, how about England v. America in the Revolutionary War? How about Algeria v. France? How about India v. England? Finally, how about the way Poland defied the Soviet Empire in recent decades, causing the Communist Empire to collapse with a shove from Pope John Paul II? I would guess you never learned about any of those conflicts in public school.

its up there, my country defeated the colonialist crusaders ( uk ) in a very nasty 25 year guerrilla war + bombing campaign. in 1957 we must have killed enough as they left our land.
