If so, what was it like?

I have had one...I was without a heartbeat and respiration for a bit over 7 minutes.
I saw so much that human words cannot begin to do justice to. I saw my guardian angel...they are the one that brought me 'back'. I saw my Mom (passed 12 years prior to the NDE). She would not come up to me. I think that she knew I'd be inclined to want to stay with her if she did - and it was not 'my time'. ... And I saw a light. Not a bright white light. It was bright - but not in a way that lights here on earth are bright. And it was alive and intelligent.
It was a life-changing experience.
The Dr who was the specialist in charge of my care later said, "You left and saw a lot of things. It shows. But you're back. You're meant to be here."
This write up of it sounds flat - lame, compared to what it really was. ... Human experience and words can't touch what I saw and heard and felt.

I was driving my car, and I had been in the left lane for awhile, I switched back to the right lane and my tire blew... my car spun out. Had I stayed in the other lane, my car would have spun into a semi truck. However, I did spin onto the shoulder and if it had not rained, my car would have kinda fell off the cliff beyond the shoulder. Thankfully there was mud and my car got stuck in it, saving my car and my life.

I also had another near death experience. I was riding on my boyfriends motorcycle and an SUV didn't see us and decided to come into our lane. Luckily, my boyfriend was able to lean the back over and then back up, missing the truck but about 2 inches.

How near does it have to be?

Is crashing into the side of a truck at high speed on a bike and being left unconscious by the ambulance on the roadside near enough?

Is being hit by a taxi going too fast while crossing the road on a green near enough?

With the bike incident, all I could think of was "sheeet" sorry for the spelling (abuse button and all)

The taxi left me no time for thoughts. It was no fun at all - had to crawl to the bathroom for the next week. The hospital just discharged me right away, and I was too stupid, too young, to object.

Yes and they should call it a near life experience because for me it was the closest to feeling the beauty of what we all miss in life because either we are blind to it or we are all going to fast.... take a moment sit back and reflect life is a awesome wonder just don't miss the important things

yes, when i was 8 i was bitten by a baby rattlesnake, they have no rattles and super venom, we lived out in the country, so dad and neighbor did emergency first aid, and started the 45 mile trip to the hospital, when we got near town, i remember everyones voices and faces in the car getting distant, the next i knew, i was up above, looking down at the car going down the street, saw the police escort pull out and lead us to hospital, i came to in the hospital, already in the emergency room being treated, didnt have any bright light nor other experiences, but after that, i found my "esp" working better, i could sense or know things,

Yep. My life flashed before my eyes, but that was just because of the adrenaline speeding up my thought rate and me thinking my life would flash before my eyes. Nothing special. If I died my consciousness would cease to exist is all.
