I'm sorry. My cat died this past winter too, and I suspect she may have died because of the tainted pet food. I understand how you feel.
I'd give it some time. I wouldn't rush into another pet. It's not going to be the same as your cat. I still wish I had a cat around the house. I had a dog that died in January also, from tumors on the lungs, and we got another dog a couple months ago. We're becoming attached to her... it takes time, and it's not going to be the same relationship as you had with your other pet, of course. Maybe someday I'll get another cat. A stray came around and I wanted to keep it, but then I found out it belonged to a neighbor. :(

The best thing for you is to get another cat. Its like the theory about if you fall off a horse, then you need to get back on the horse to get away from the fear of it, and if you almost drowned, then you need to get back into the water and swim to get over that fear. Last year my prise 15 month Chausie, Paka Shume, died of FIP. He was such a dear friend and the most perfect cat. I had him trained to do all kinds of things like play hide and seek and even red light, green light. He was so cute when he did that. He played peek a boo and chase. He could sit, jump up or down, roll over, beg, meow on command and even jog around the block with me because he was lease trained. He would come to a corner and ever sit on command while the cars drove by. Then he got very sick and lost all his weight and wouldn't eat and finally died of FIP. I was heart broken. All those months of training and love and he was just like a best friend. I swore I wouldn't have another cat but my breeder said that was the worst thing to do and said since he was guaranteed, she was going to send me two babies to replace him. She did and I fell in love with them immediately and started comparing their antics to Paka's, They are half brothers and the one is the same markings as Paka's were. At times now I accidentally call him Paka. They are just awesome cats and I am so glad that I immediately got them to love on. They can never replace Paka. There isn't a cat out there that will ever replace Paka, but these boys have been a joy that has eased the death of his passing and the pain of his absence in this home. I strongly urge you to go get a kitten. It doesn't have to be the same breed or color, it has to be a kitten that desperately needs someone like you with a lot of love to give. You can pour your love into it and it can be a joy to you. That is the true way to ease the pain and loss of your pet. I know.

If you don't want another cat, yet like the convience of not having to take an animal outside to use the bathroom... I suggest a chinchilla. They are friendly, lovable, and have great personalities. (They have a decent lifespan as long as you take care of them--mine lived about 9 years.) And the best part is they can live in a cage (where they use the bathroom on litter-like substances) or roam the house!!

Firstly, I would sue the food company for your money. Anyway...
RABBIT! They are such good friends. if ou get a baby/young one, and lovv it and train it, she/he will be a great litle bunny friend. You can even get them to lick you, and they can hop after you and play games with you. they are funny to watch, and loving t lie with and cuddle. I would recomned those.
However, i recently lost a cat also. It was all really traumatic, but we aited 6 weeks, and got a kitten. we were going to go for one that didn't look like him, but in the end, we went for one that was just like him. he's brilliant, and we really couldn't nhave asked for better. It's sad but you have to move on. Othewise, you will get real depressed and stuff. i would go to your local shelter, and look. if ther is one that just comes out to you, then take him. kittees are playful, and so loving . they re sooo cute too. it will take your mind off things, and make you happier. Don't rush into it though. wait and grieve. you will feel better for it. I know how you eel, and it's awful, but try to rememebr good times, and laugh.
:):):):):)
good luck

Perhaps a ferret? They're warm and cuddly like a cat and can be litter trained....plus, you won't have mice with a ferret around either. If you do go with a ferret, they need regular vet care as well....shots and such, and you will want it descented.

particularly, i think of its as much as you. The question I ask is, are you able to get a clean puppy without expectancies? additionally, grew to become into this your in straight forward terms cat? In my relatives, we particularly continuously have cats. Now i'm not putting my cats down. they have all been particular, yet there's a distinction between having multiples of one animal or having purely certainly one of that animal. With our cats, as quickly as we finally end up with a clean one, he or she is an computerized habit to the relatives (fairly than a alternative, in spite of if yet another cat recently died). although, there could be matters once you in straight forward terms certainly one of an animal. on your case, one cat. We as quickly as had one chook interior the relatives. while he died, my mom have been given yet another chook. She ended up disenchanted because of the fact she had to interchange what she had, and of direction, not all birds act a similar. there grew to become into an identical case with me while my corn snake died. an excellent sort of folk expected me to get a clean snake. I heavily considered it, yet interior the tip, i did not. reality learn, i'm happy i did not because of the fact i think of i might have made a similar mistake my mom did. in spite of if I had the suitable intentions, area of that new snake might have been a alternative. If this grew to become into your in straight forward terms cat, and you opt for a clean puppy (in spite of the explanation could be), i think of you will possibly be better off getting the small canine you stated. according to risk it sound loopy, yet i think of that'll make it much less complicated to settle for the animal as an addition fairly than a alternative. in case you do get a clean cat, attempt to get one that seems thoroughly diverse out of your first cat. That way, you keep the honour for the puppy you loss and the hot puppy. (i understand if I ever get a clean snake, I won't get an albino corn snake. in spite of if its been years, that'll be my small way of transforming into particular my first snake remains particular.)
