does the sleep disorder drug ambien cause erectile disfunction in men, sterilization in men, or not being able to hold an erection for long amounts of time? there is a tendency to become dependent on the drug and causes severe depression. if a man is depressed does it have any imput on his sexual performances?

Depression adversely affects performance. So do most drugs and illness's.

I know that ambien has a narcotic-like effect on some people, but I haven't heard that ED is a side-effect. However, it's a comparatively new drug, and all the side-effects haven't been documented. ED is probably more a result of other factors, and as you note, depression could be one of them. More likely, ED can be caused by aging, diabetes, other illnesses and psychological disorders. Check with your doctor if you are having problems with sexual performance. Most often it can be easily corrected with appropriate treatment.

Unfortunately you do know the answer to your question. However for this problem you can seek help. Your doctor can help or you can have therapy which can help. An understanding and caring partner would also be good. Apart from all that try not to dwell on it. Do more useful things exercise and an improved diet will help over time. Medication can give you a quick fix which will give you more confidence. So go to it and good luck but do seek out help as the problem can get worse if you do nothing.
