Hi,

read again the first sentence of the answer from Theaterdoc. It's not about working harder. It's about working smarter!

Something that I didn't see in your question, was anything about the classes you are taking. That should be your number one priority! Not ONLY books, videos, acting movies, plays and asking people..., but good solid acting training. That's how you get better!

If you do a search here on answers you will see other answers to this question, as it comes up usually a couple of times each day. I answer this question a lot and so instead of writing the same or similar answers over and over again, I have created a 36-page ebooklet that will give you a lot of intormation as to what you need to do to get started. Just go to http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/acs-blog.html , sign in on the right side of the page and you can download it for free. It's called: What It Takes To Become An Actor.

The second resource is about getting an agent, although, if you have no training yet, then I doubt that you are ready, but here it is anyway: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/how_to_get_an_agent.html . It takes you through a process that I used to get two agents and a personal manager in a short period of time in New York. Using the same process, I also got casting directors to actually start calling me in directly for auditions.

See if that helps!

Maybe you need to know how to work smart. Well, generally noone really believes that it is possible to become an actor. In your case, we have to know how long it is that you have been working on this and what roles in what plays have you done and what books have you read. Luckily you cannot get too old to act and for some getting old just made them careeer actors. So tell ya what, go to my profile by clicking on my name and then write to me at my aol address and tell me about what we have to know above and we will see if there is any future in it. Oh, yeah, tell me what city you are in and how old you are.

Honestly? If you wouldn't be happy doing small plays, if you've got it in your head that you're too good for them, you'll never succeed. You should be happy that you continually get the opportunity to act; not many people do. Rethink why you want to be an actor.

If you love it, you will continue to try even at your lowest moments. amd if you have the money dont spend it on books, spend it on lessons.keep trying.
