People pass lie detector tests all the time. And if you have to give your spouse/bf/gf a cheating test, then why in the hell are you with them??? Unless you feel like playing detective all the damn time. What a waste!

If you feel the need to get your partner to take a lie detector then you're really with the wrong person.

Unless the problem is with you, of course... lots of people can be paranoid for one reason or another, and a lie detector (polygraph) test can be a good place to begin the healing and start to build the trust.

Polygraph's are around 97% accurate. If you think it's something you need to lay the past to rest so you can know the truth and move forwards then it could well be useful if not invaluable.

If you want one to find out if he's been lying and cheating because he's got a habit of doing so, then save your money and some day you'll find someone who loves you unconditionally.

Lie detectors are not foolproof, and are pretty silly to use in a marital situation. You can forgive, but forgetting takes time. Cheating is one of the main reasons for divorces, but if two people love each other, they can use this love to stick together.. We all must remember we are only human and humans are not infallible. The first time it happens, I would say it is possible to heal the rift. The second, I'd be out the door.

Lie detectors for the most part are accurate but not infallible. You might(?) be able to train yourself to forget something, but it is not healthy.

Not very good if the person is a habitual fibber. If they lie all the time, then the detector will have a hard time finding a lie.

Lie detectors aren't accurate and you may forgive, but you won't forget.

Lie detectors are worthless. The "evidence" obtained through their use is inadmissible in a court of law.

I don't know about the first part of your question. The second part varies. Can you forgive? You never forget, but if you can forgive and go on from there, your good. If this was a one time event, go on from there and don't dwell on it.
