have you ever had to do something fairly before?

if you had two friends and you did something for one and felt out of fairness you should the same for the other. Well foil is about fair distribution. look at the first problem.
-5(3x - 7) the -5 is goes with the 3x to get -15x then it is multiplied by the -7 to get +35 so your answer is:

-15x+35

do the same for the second to get -12x^4 and +4x^3 and -4x^2 for an answer of
-12X^4 + 4x^3 - 4x^2

do the third one on your own and see how to get:
-2x^2y^4 + 4xy^5

now for sets of 2 by 2 you take the first of the first set and distribute it onto the second set then do the same with the second part of the first set like this:

(x-4)(x+8)= take the first x and get x^2 + 8x
then take the -4 and distribute it to get -4x and +32 for an answer of x^2+8x-4x+32 but the +8x & -4x can be combined to get a single 4x so the final answer is:

x^2+8x+32.

do the same for (2x - 5)(x - 9) to get:

2x^2 -23x +45 and check the answer.

the same goes for (3x + 4)^2 = .(3x + 4)(3x + 4).
you should get :

9x^2 + 24x + 16


the next one is done the same way to get:

15 - 7x - 2x^2

next you have a 2 by 3, no problem you do the same thig just 3 times istead of 2.
