Since you just recently had sex, get yourself the morning after pill. Sperm can live for a couple days in the female body, and if you're taking the placebos, it is hypothetically possible to get pregnant. Use condoms, always always always. Especially when you are due to start the placebos.
As for taking a pregnancy test, I was told by the clinician at Planned Parenthood that the earliest they can detect pregnancy is two weeks after the possible conception. I don't know if the kinds from the store are as effective.

You should technically be ok. If you have been really good about taking your pills for the whole month, and missed just that one, then there shouldnt be a problem. Dont get yourself all worked up, b/c that can actually make your period come late. If it doesnt show a few days AFTER its due, take a test, but you should be ok.

Get yourself the morning after pill ASAP. Just to be sure.
If your period does start you should be ok tho.
If missing pills is a regular thing maybe you should speak to your family planning or sexual health nurse and go on something more reliable, like the rod or implant. These are easily reversed whey you decided that you want children.

Take a few minutes to relax, spazzing out will not do yourself any good. Now you've taken the pill everyday but one I'm assuming. Which means you should be good for the moment. But I'd get the morning after pill just in case.
Please remember condoms next time, that way your not running around scared you haven't taken your pill.

You may be safe, but you could try the morning after pill if you feel you may have conceived.
