What did your parents say to you when you asked why?

My son has hit the "Why" stage.
Why are you mopping the floor?
Why is the floor dirty?
Why is that a mop?
Why is the floor wet?
Why does the cleaner smell?
Why does it kill germs?
Why ? Why? But WHY!?

What did your parents say to you when you asked why? After a while I stop and just say, Because. But then he hits me back with a BUT WHY!!! Ha. I love my kid. Tell me your stories.

I usually asked my kids to tell ME why and then would listen to their tall tales of how they see the world.

I don't ask questions because I like to figure things out on my own, so my parents never really did anything when I asked why except for answer my question. I had been nannying this summer for my aunt, and my cousins are sweet kids, but they ask why too much!!! Yes, TOO much. They don't figure anything out on their own. Sometimes I just tell them to figure it out on their own. Other times I just say, "because." When they keep asking, i ask, "Why do you ask so many questions?" they say, "because," so then I keep saying, "why?" until they get annoyed enough to stop asking me questions.

i answer his why questions till HE gets sick of ME answering him :D
my parents just told me I talked to much and that chatterbox needs to go do something quiet-blar-but they humor my kid when he why's them ;)

well when my mom is pissed or in a bad mood....nobody questions her authority...but when i do she just says because when she is on the move...and if we have time to answer it she does with the best answer she can give me..
