anyone know where i can get a OS cd for my dell laptop xps m140 cant get one from dell my service tag is to wore to get numbers and i never wrote them down any help appreciated..steve

That laptop should have all the setup info on a separate partition on the hard drive. Hold down F12 when you boot and see if you get a restore choice.

XP can be installed to most computer provides that it meets the ram,hard disk space and cpu speed requirement. The problem that you are facing now "you do not know which mother board CD that contains drivers for sound,video,enthernet,usb fits to which computer.The only thing you can do is running the board installation CD after you completely installed XP, and then test the sound,video etc. If no error is shown,you are on the right track.

Actually you can get your service tag number, it's in your computer.

Phone Dell Tech. support and ask them how to find it, they will walk you through finding it on your computer, I've done it before on my Dell but I forgot the key strokes for it to come up.
