Aside from letting others take advantage of you- that's the obvious. What I'm saying is, can you ever be too nice of a person? If so, where do you draw the line as to where you consider nice to become "too nice?" Do you consider someone who is loving and friendly by nature, to be TOO nice? Do you enjoy people like this, (if it is genuine, of course)? Or do you enjoy people who have a bit of a malicious side? Which type of person do you more prefer to be around?

No, Kakity, I'm not asking this to try to figure out how to get more people to like me. This is not personal. I am simply trying to get others opinions on the subject. I hear all the time that people dislike people who are catty and selfish, yet when you look around, it is the truly nice people who usually seem to be the most overlooked, and the least popular.

It is always better to be nice, but don't be a push over. Nobody wants to hang out with someone that agrees with everyone and everything. Be a nice person, but have your own opinions and views.

you pose several questions. In my view, a person who is nice merely keeps in contact, doesn't get into my business, just chit chats like an acquaintance, doesn't drop by, etc. A person who is too nice seems to be a little obsessive, continues to ask the same questions, seems to ask personal questions, wants to give gifts when they aren't needed like when there is no occasion for it, it's almost like being around a clinging vine who has no other friends. Usually you can tell if you're being too nice or overly nice when someone finally yells at you or walks away from you because it's too irritating, but then it's already too late and they wondered why you kept it up.
A person who is loving and friendly by nature may be directing that at the wrong people. Maybe you should be loving and friendly only to family members, and to acquaintances only be surface friendly. Know what I mean?
No, I don't like people who are too nice, even if it's genuine.
I like acquaintances to be around. People come and go in our lives, share information, help each other out and then go on their way. That's nice.
In addition, if you are too nice, you might find some needy person who likes a too nice person around so that they can take advantage of them. Then you will experience the biggest problem of your life.

I prefer to be nice...I try to be mean sometimes when I feel it's necessary, but I can't. I'm a nice person, I like nice people. But it has to be genuine. If you're faking, I can tell. Some people have so little trust that there are truly good ppl around anymore that they think the "nice" ones are after something or will eventually be malicious...they call that paranoia!!
Being nice, besides the obvious, goes too far when you feel like it's a chore to be nice...or you feel obligated to ppl that you shouldn't.
But remember...being NICE and being GOOD are 2 different things. I prefer to be around ppl who are nice, but not always good!! ;-)

Blarp- Calling a dog a 'Labradoodle' is insulting. why not just say Lab/Poodle Mix? it's only three characters longer than that derogatory cutesy term. If any person ever told me my Lab/Collie mix was a Labrollie or something equally stupid, they would be swiftly informed of just how stupid they truly are, same as people who tell me all about their brand new Puggadoo or their rare breed Pommirottiwow. They don't own a special designer breed. They own an unspecial, common as muck mutt. And I, as well as every well educated dog owner and lover should, will continue to tell them that. My dogs go by the terms Bitser, Mutt, Mongrel, Mixer, crosses.... Anything like that. I find people telling me that they own a Chiweeniedoodlepoo insulting to my intelligence, and insulting to dogs. Don't get me wrong. I frigging love my mutts. I love all mutts. I hate designer dogs. I will not take something called a Shihtpoo or a labradoodle seriously. It is a joke, and a bad one at that.

I believe there is a lot of room between malicious and too nice. Sometimes people who are too nice, have a bit of a
floor mat quality, that is not attractive. They don't have to be
mean. Just avoid either extreme

They become too nice when they almost NEVER have any other feeling than happy.
I mean like they NEVER stop smiling and you can do ANYTHING and they are still happy with a smile on their face asking if you want some chocolate.
THAT'S too nice.
So, I guess I would prefer Mrs. Malicious.

When it becomes annoying or appears fake I suppose.
I probably enjoy people who have a bit of a malicious side, but not too much of a malicious side.

Too many people now days are worried about what people think of them. If you are kind by nature you must be weary of being taken advantage of, these things happen but think of it like this, what goes around comes around. If you are ugly on the inside then ugly things will happen to you, if you are good on the inside good things will happen. You give what you get. I prefer people who are real to themselves and others. Fakers beware.
