The Dalai llama says its spelled with 2 L's.
The emporer llama says its spelled 2 L's.
So its 2!

It's spelled with two l's. I asked about this once in a Spanish class when two l's together were pronounced as something like a 'y'.
Apparently, it's supposed to be pronounced something like Yama, but English phonetics can't really handle that, so it got bastardized. It happens. So, yeah, Llama.

Llama in Spanish is flame...it is also the word for "call" so, not sure if it's a myth. Probably, yes.
