How high are the taxes in England? I heard they tax on like everything, even stuff that's not taxed in America. And what kind of laws do they have? Like is it different than America's laws, are they more strict, or more leanet, or about the same, what's the difference? Thanks.

Any country which tries to ban pointy knives has me worried-
As for different taxes [licenses]...to watch TV, you need to have a licence at 135.50 pounds, or about $271.00.
I believe that this is charged annually. Ouch.

Because government spending is so high. You are earning the sort of money on an internship that some people in this country will work hard all their lives and never earn, so you are paying more tax than someone on minimum wage (£650 a week is quite a lot to many). Whilst you live here you are using things those taxes pay for, from using our roads to get to work, our police forces to keep you safe, our councils collect your rubbish, and so on. You might not get health care, but you do get nearly everything else, so it is only right to pay towards that. Foreign workers in the USA pay tax, why should it be different for Americans in the UK? If you don't like it, leave - you clearly don't want to be here and don't like your internship, so go ahead and quit and go back to America. Did you not google the UK before you moved here? Also, I suspect you're taking ****, because you whinge about it raining when most of this country hasn't seen a drop of rain in about two months!

The actual rate of taxation does depend on where you are in the UK. It varies from city to city. Most of their laws are very similar to those in the USA. The US Courts are modeled after those of the UK.
