Is this a good laptop based on what i need it for?

I should say that what i am using now is a Gateway desktop from about 6 yrs ago.

All i will be using it for is school (papers, research), downloading music, burning cds rarely, surfing the internet, and instant messaging.

I will not be editing movies or anything like that. I will not be burning DVDs so i don't need to get the next model up with superdrive.

My friend says to upgrade the harddrive to the next level but do i really need to if that is all i would be doing?

You seem to have a good idea of your computing requirements and this laptop is an excellent choice; it's more than capable of dealing with any task you throw at it. If you have no need to store gigabytes of data then yes you can live without a dvd burner - the 80gb hard drive will be adequate. Good luck with your studies.

they are in a position to be seen as extra "stylish", yet no - macs are no longer from now on powerful than their abode windows opposite numbers. For the main section, macs are extra costly if in addition specced. the only distinction is the working gadget. in case you want MAC's OS then bypass with a macbook, in case you like abode windows then bypass with a dell or hp. won't be able to bypass incorrect the two way... till you're on a funds.

Your link doesn't work anymore. If it's an Apple laptop, I use one, but you'll have to buy a separate copy of Windows for it if you want to be able to run 90% of the software in the world.
