It seems that a majority of the general public are ignorant of our history.
"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." Benjamin Franklin
"We, the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow men who pervert the Constitution." Abraham Lincoln
"The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all."
Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Abigail Adams, 2 February 1787
"It is necessary for every American, with becoming energy to endeavor to stop the dissemination of principles evidently destructive of the cause for which they have bled. It must be the combined virtue of the rulers and of the people to do this, and to rescue and save their civil and religious rights from the outstretched arm of tyranny, which may appear under any mode or form of government."
Mercy Warren, History of the Rise, Progress, and Termination of the American Revolution, 1805
"... God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty.... And what country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."
Thomas Jefferson, Letter to William S. Smith, 13 November 1787

Because the American people are willing to forfeit their rights. This isn't specific to the Bush administration, Clinton did it too. It has happened during most administrations going all the way back to George Washington and the Whiskey Rebellion. Lincoln gets credit for doing some great things but he horribly pummeled the Constitution. So did Wilson, FDR, Johnson, Nixon, Carter, Reagan and the elder Bush.

Like lobsters languishing in a pot of lukewarm water, U.S. citizens won't start screaming in agony over their own apathy until the water starts boiling over. Then it will be too late.
The Bush administration and the Supreme Court and the U.S. Congress will have turned America into a police state were all citizens are presumed guilty until proven innocent.
We will not be allowed to demonstrate within so many feet of a Presidential public speaking engagement.
'Wars' will be unconstitutionally, illegally, unjustifiably and immorally declared against another sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the United States.
Innocent civilians and thousands of U.S. soldiers will die all for the sake of OIL and WAR PROFITEERING.
The plight of America's sick, elderly, underprivileged, unemployed, disadvantaged, disabled, homeless and hungry will be ignored in favor of favoring the wealthy elitists, industrialists and mutli-billion-dollar corporations with tax breaks, special incentives and bail-outs.
Basic American freedoms, such as the right to a fair trial and legal representation, will be taken away.
A conservative-biased media will spew forth toxic poison propaganda, encouraging 'ditto heads' to insult and belittle liberals or anyone else who disagrees with the conservative agenda....until those 'ditto heads' are finally encouraged to injure or even kill liberals and others who disagree with conservatives. It will be a replica of the Hitler propaganda machine that persuaded otherwise intelligent Germans to deem it 'acceptable' to gas six million Jews.
Corruption will run rampant within the hallowed halls of Congress, the U.S. Supreme Court and the executive branch of our government.
Rules of the UN Charter and the Geneva Convention will be ignored, even though the U.S. is a signatory to both international agreements.
Prisoners will be tortured in secret CIA prisons, sexually abused and ridiculed for their religious beliefs.
And, our government leaders will lie to us about 'weapons of mass destruction', which will be the flagship reason given for illegally invading another nation.
But - ooooops! - I guess George Orwell's '1984' is already here! Sorry. -RKO- 08/11/07

because of the fact the Republican occasion has been taken over with the aid of the NeoCons.. purely because of the fact the Democrat occasion has been hijacked with the aid of the socialists. think of related to the definitions of the very names of the events; Republican; helping on the whole the desires of the Republic. Democratic; the working OF same republic with the aid of the will of the human beings. because of the fact the US form of government is that of a democratic republic (that is not a democracy, as many look to think of), One could reason that those 2 could carry the final desire for retaining our way of existence. They now not do. Neither of those center philosophies carry genuine for the two occasion from now on. the two are offered & owned with the aid of the multinational firms & banking cartels. the main important of it somewhat is, of direction, the Federal Reserve economic company; our very own residence-grown monster. Europeans are seeing their freedoms vanish far swifter than we are.. seem up the Treaty of Lisbon. the u . s . could be the desirable enemy that the only-international government varieties will would desire to overcome. (consequently why we "hang to our weapons & faith") we've 2 options, if we prefer to maintain the u . s .. One is to take the main significant events lower back from the powers that have taken them from us. the different is the upward push of a doable third occasion. Neither would be elementary. i'm a Libertarian. I additionally very lots admire the form occasion, and the Conservative occasion. remember; the quickest thank you to overcome a human beings is to divide them. they're doing a very effective interest with us.

Aye, the government takes away more and more freedoms each day. I suggest you vote ron paul, or investigate libertarianism. It advocates limited government. You can learn about it a bit on this news site + forum

Zach, believe me, it is not being ignored. Miilions see it, and millions are determining just how to deal with it. Basically, a revolution WILL occur, if they do not tone it down. The revolution will occur sporadically, mostly by individuals unrelated to each other. The media, which is controlled by the governemnt, and vise versa, will not report any of it, unless they can contribute it to otherwise inoccuos sources.
Your anger will lead you to devilishly revel at the death of media leaders. Only the poor, and middle class are safe!

AH.... the natives are getting restless.... We are allowing them to do this to us. If you don't have enough gutts to fight for what is right, and your main objective is to take care of yourself and your family. That keeps everyone busy and thinking about something other than..... were getting screwed. People have to make the time to do something about it. Where are the hippies when you need them? I'm one, but it takes more then one to make anyone listen of this magnitude. People will have to reunite, do you want your children to grow up having all of this control on them like we do now as adults? And it's only going to get worse? Aren't they worth fighting for? Dang people.... there are more of us than them. Majority has to rule sometime. It's up to us and I wish and pray that people will quit ignoring this, it's like the invasion of the body snacthers are something. All of the money that this country is spending on this war and we can't even feed the children of this country. It's sad That means in plain English - that the government cares more about helping out buddies... with their factories to make all of the war machines of every type and loosing lives everyday. Don't you see what and how they do the people they so call are suposed to be protecting? I mean if this is love - I would hate to see the hate... It's going to get worse and the only way I see any reform anytime soon is 2008, or stand up and fight, say something, do something. WHo's life is it? Theirs or yours. Do they love your children - NO. So take care of your own above all else. But think about - being able to stand up and demand to be treated fairly. After all, it's our country too and don't forget it..

The Democrats have taken away more freedoms you fool than Republicans could even think about. How about the freedom to spend the money you work hard to earn rather than have it taken away from you through the Dems' confiscatory tax schemes?

Ah, you noticed. Very few Americans seem to have noticed, and of those who have, many seem to feel quite happy to sacrifice their rights for an illusory "victory" over terrorism. Talk about it with your friends and anybody who will listen. Make it an issue in the next Presidential election.
