family members on the both sides of our family object to us naming our daughter Tinnie. We do not care what they think. What do you guys think of the name Sa'rheya Tinnie Nelson?

Beautiful!! It doesn't matter what others think of your baby names. Plus, what a tribute to your momma.

Good Luck

Go ahead and use Tinnie if you want. I see nothing wrong with it. I don't even know why they would object, it's not like it's an overly strange name, just a little different, plus it's the middle name and it honors your Mom. When my Mom was pregnant for the 3rd time she had a certain name picked out if it was going to be a boy and some of the family really objected. She had a girl so didn't use the name, but the next year, my aunt and uncle had a boy and used the name that my Mom had planned to use, it was pretty hypocritical because they were the strongest objectors when my parents wanted to use it.

I have no objection to the Tinnie part, especially since it honours your mother, however I'm not a fan of any name that has a random apostrophe thrown in the middle of it. It's pointless and will cause nothing but endless grief and confusion for this child's whole life because it will be perpetually spelled wrong. It just looks silly. Now what is wrong with Sarheya Tinnie Nelson? Leave out that silly apostrophe. If your fear is that it will be pronounced wrong, then pick a more pronounceable spelling with actual alphabetical letters. Not with punctuation.

I think it's a nice name.

I learned during my first pregnancy that EVERYONE had a comment (usually negative) about every name we were considering.

The second time around, I kept the name a secret (I just told people we hadn't decided yet or threw out various generic names like Evan or Ian)

When my son was born and named, not one person complained about his name. Since he was already named, and it would have been really rude for someone to turn up their nose at his name.

I'm glad you are not falling to family pressure either. The name you have chosen is thoughtful and pretty, and your daughter will be proud to own it.

They care that you are using the name Tinnie but haven't objected to the awful first name? That's surprising. I have to tell you that I used to work for a major corporation and when a pile of resumes came across my bosses desk, no matter how qualified the person was, someone with a name like Sa'rheya would have been tossed into the garbage. Honest to goodness. It's ashame but it's what happens. Don't do this to your daughter.

Sounds good to me. Also it's good you don't care what your family thinks. I mean I want to name my first son either Lee, Shuichi, or Terrance but my mom and step-dad don't like those names. Do I care no.
