I'm a junior in high school, and i never knew what i wanted to be when i grow up. Just last month, i got interested in being an actor. I don't have any acting experience, but i do have some performing experience. Is it hard to be an actor? How does the scripts work? Do you memorize it all or is it broken down into parts? How long is an actor given to memorize their script? Just give me what you know about acting. Thanks in advance.

From my past experiences in acting, I've found out that it is extremely challenging to become an actor. I've auditioned for a few things and I have never been so freaked out about all the competition that I had to go through...MILLIONS and MILLIONS of people audition all the time for things, and I really believe that its the lucky ones who actually get to do it.

But if you have the passion for it and want to give it your all, I say keep trying because you could be one of those people who are born to act or you could get lucky!

I haven't given up yet either

Yes it is difficult to become a professional actor. Acting is easy. Scripts are written like conversations. You memorize your part. You are given different amounts of time in different situations. It is always best to learn your part ASAP. Why don't you get into a school play and discover these things?

It's THE hardest thing in the world to earn a living at. You can study with the best teachers, be very talented, work as hard as you can for decades and still have to work another job. In fact you most likely will. You have to do it because you love it. Asking about learning your lines is a marque of an amateur. If you learn them by rote you will look and sound like you are reciting memorized lines. That's not acting. You have a lot to learn. Learn it.
