It is not an absolute statement... it is more like a likelihood!!! It states men are biologically inclined to be better at single focus tasks and women are biologically inclined to be better at multi-tasking. There are different studies that point to that... Once again it doesn't mean one will definitely be better than the other in either types of conditions.
It is also socially enforced by our cultural stereotypes. So in my experiences I have seen it apparently hold true to some extent!

Don't know about other couples. But it fits my wife and I.
At times, it's an advantage for me. At times the advantage is my wife's -- and vice versa.
Sometimes it drives me crazy since it seems as if the other party cannot focus on the subject at hand. Well, I wonder how many thumbs down I get for that disclosure.

I've found it to be generally true that women are better multi-taskers and men are better at mono-focus. Both have there pro's and con's and I know you are aware that they are generalizations, but generalizations aren't intrinsically false. They exist for a reason

In men it's called "change of life" and in women it's called "PMS". Just kidding. If you logically think about it, since women usually have the nature of "taking care of", raising the children, etc. she needs to have the great ability to MULTI-TASK. Our very creation form gives us this by nature.
