There are four kinds of werewolves that I've read about. One's a normal person with a lot of body hair, another is an insane person who 'thinks' he's a werewolf.

Of the other two (ones that actually change), each is taken down in its own way.

The first, the more classic werewolf, is extremely allergic to wolfsbane and silver. Fire'll do it too. One of the versions I've read says that an arrow coated with silver nitrate does the best job of taking it down as the silver gets into the bloodstream.

Another version says that only a weapon made of silver can even penetrate the skin. Some versions of that telling say that the silver used has to be inherited (a bullet made from a grandmother's earrings, etc.). The sacrifice empowers it to do its job.

the fourth kind of werewolf is a person who turns into a wolf, but doesn't have much in the way of supernatural protection. They heal disturbingly quickly, but they are mortal. Damage to the lungs, liver, heart or brain will take them down for good.

The advantage here (if you believe in werewolves) is that a silver tipped arrow to the heart will take both of the latter two down with equal ease.

To paraphrase one of Terry Pratchet's characters: "The advantage about a stake to the heart is that it also kills things that *aren't* vampires."

You can kill it just like you would kill a human, but make sure it is cremated afterwards. But there are a few ways to make it revert back to human form.:

- Get it to roll around in dew.
- Call the wolf by its full name 3 times.
- Hit it with the flat side of a knife on the forehead 3 times
- Push it into a body of water
- And much much more, from you local Wal-Mart.

Also, making the wolf wear a silver charm/ amulet in human form will stop it transforming.

Of course, these are just myths.

Use cold iron. Cold iron can dirrupt the ethereal energies used to create the wolf-body by the shaman.

*growls* i dont know why im telling you this but i suppose i do know.... the thing about silver? not quite true, although it may burn like hell, it will not kill. Although if you somehow get it to eat wolvebane that would kill it, but that would be very hard. ... i am not telling you anymore.. better leave the killing of wolves up to the local Hunters....
