what is a good setting to get a nice clean sound out of my bass amp?

I have an Ampeg BA-115 using a Fender Jazz bass and I'm sick of messing around with the EQ trying to get that "perfect sound". Does anyone have and suggestions about where I should set the low, mid, and high ends to get a real quality sound? Is there a lot of different settings depending on the type of music you play? What is a good general setting?
