First of all, it's new, and you really have alot to learn to get used to it.
Second, it's SLOW. Many computers are sold with just 512MB of RAM, but it is DOG slow unless you have 1 GB or more. I recommend that you expand it to 2GB, and here's why. When good 'old Windows XP came out, they said that 128MB was fine, but it was DOG slow until you beefed up to 512MB. That's a factor of FOUR. So use that same factor and get 2GB.
Third.. many devices and software are not compatible. That really sucks, unless you planned to GET MORE.
BUT, Windows Vista is the way of the Future. But not just the 32 bit version. Within the next few years, everyone will have a 64 bit computer and many programs will come out with a 64 bit flavor. That means that Windows Vista 64 Ultimate with ALL 64 bit application programs will be AWESOME. It will run fast, and be worth the wait. Finally, you will witness what Microsoft says "WOW".
Good luck and Happy Computing!

Because it's new. XP was worse when it first came out. I put XP on 3 machines(i build them) and took it out and put ME on them because nothing ran with XP. Vista is a great operating system but it's just a baby and a lot of people shouldn't be trying to put it in right now. They should be going to the Microsoft site and running the Vista upgrade advisor to see what they have that will and wont work with Vista and make sure there are Vista drivers for their hardware before they buy it.
They need to stick their toe into the water before they dive in head first or wait until Vista grows up a bit. This happened with XP too and will happen again in 3 or 4 years when Windows Whatever comes out. I suggest that anyone who isn't up to a possible challenge or two putting this operating system in wait until they buy a new puter when vista will be more refined. Right now it appears the only ones who like it are us explorer types!!

Nothing is wrong with Vista, it is new, better looking, and the future. Its just everyone has old PCs that can't run it good, so they complain about the slowness. Also, not many thigs are compatible yet, because its new. But give it a few years, and everyone will have vista. right now its juat a bit new. I have it, its great.

Because it's all glitter and bling. Everyone was hoping that the next generation of Windows would be more than prettier. People were hoping for "more secure", "more functional", able to do more things.

Because every time people get to know how Windows works, Microsoft moves everything around and changes how you do everything. And their idea of better security if to screw things up so much, nothing works right anymore, but it's very secure.

Mainly cuz it runs slow. But thats not really a big deal to normal ppl. It only struggles when doing hardcore graphic stuff. So otherwise for normal use, its pretty cool
