I'm 6 weeks pregnant and feeling a lot of strong symptoms including morning sickness, fatigue and bloating. This is my 4th pregnancy and I heard women miscarry 1 out of 5 pregnancies, so does that mean since I've had 3 successful pregnancies my clock is ticking for a miscarriage with this one or the next?? Just a little worried here......

Not at all. The majority of miscarriages happen before a woman ever even knows she's pregnant, in fact they believe that most women have had a miscarriage that they didn't know about. So I think that is where they get that estimate that you are talking about from. Try to relax and not worry and enjoy your pregnancy.

No. Each pregnancy statistically carries the 1 in 5 risk. However, that said, a woman who has miscarried in the past is slightly more likely than another woman, only because she may have anatomic, chromosomal, or hormonal issues at play, which caused the miscarriage in the first place. The fact that you've had three successful pregnancies actually puts lower risk of miscarrying.

No I don't think so at all. I just miscarried my 2nd child at 4 weeks and there was just something wrong. Sometimes it happens and other times it doesn't. I beleive that if you are having morning sickness it is a good sign because you know everything is alright. My first child I had it and the second one was just sore breasts unfortunitly I losed it. So I say that you wont miscarry and dont stress about it. Make it until 12 weeks and you have a good chance of a healthy baby. But take it easy and DON'T stress that was a factor in my miscarriage I believe I stressed and did things I should have been avoiding so good luck

I seriously doubt it. God's going to do, what God's going to do. I suffered a late miscarriage in december and I got pregnant again in march. I thought for sure I'd lose this baby because it happened to me once before, and so far, everything is going fine. I'm 22 weeks and doing great! I have a syndrome that raises my miscarriage rate 40-50% during any time during the pregnancy, and I'm still keeping my chin up that everything will be okay.

Just don't stress!! That's one thing you can control! Good luck!

No, it doesn't. You have a really good track record. You're more likely to bring this child to term and birth a healthy child. If you've done it 3 times already, number 4 should be a breeze. Relax and enjoy morning sickness. P.S. I heard a study that ladies with morning sickness were more likely NOT to miscarry, but to have healthy babies.

Congratulations!!

I've never heard of that particular analysis so I looked up your information and found a website of National Vital Statistics:

http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache:nNZWnfwB9AMJ:www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr55/nvsr55_06.pdf+U.S.+miscarriage+data&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=4&gl=us

On table A on page three of this report denotes that the infant mortality rate per 1000 live births are 6.23 babies.

That would equate to 1 in 160.5 babies have resulted in "miscarriage" in the United States in 2003. The reason that up to date data not availabel is because it hasn't been published yet. This should ease your mind. If you ever get to deliever 159 babies....

Good Luck,

Jim

I think you mean one out of five pregnancies result in a miscarriage. It doesn't mean that for one woman it's a statistical thing applied to ALL child bearing women. Don't worry but definitely talk to your MD if you think these symptoms might indicate complications. Good luck u r in my prayers.

no, that is not it at all. i've had 5 successful pregnancies and my SIL has had 7. usually people say the more stronger the sxs, the better the outcome of the pregnancy. iwouldn't worry to much because worrying and stress can cause you to have a m/c.

no. I had 4 babies and no miscarriages. My mother in law had 7 and none. And some women have lots of them. It's different for each women. I think every time you have no miscarriages then your chances go down.
