The automobile.,. I got so tired of trudging through the snow, barefoot, for 5 miles uphill both ways just to borrow a library book.......then came the horsless carriage. It was a feared contraption at first, it scared the mules dreadfully. But it wasnt long before this newfangled idea had caught on.

Computers are fun and the Internet is great - but for all round practicality, the invention that has made the most important contribution is the home refrigerator. hmmmm. or was it the automatic washer and dryer? Can I say home appliances and cover both the laundry and the refrigerator? I can't imagine living without either.

I agree that internet is great, but I think the cell phone is the best.
