My friends and I were talking superstitions and heres a few we came up with:
During the sixth century, it was customary to congratulate people who sneezed because they were expelling evil from their bodies. Later, when a great plague took hold of Europe, and people began sneezing violently, the Pope passed a law. Since sneezing meant that the person was going to die of plague, people were required to bless the sneezer.
It is bad luck to kill a ladybug because it represents the Virgin Mary.
There’s the one that if you smell the herb basil, an enraged scorpion will hatch in your brain and sting you to death.
You have to hold your breath when you pass a cemetery
A cat on board a ship is considered to bring luck.
To drop a comb while you are combing your hair is a sign of a coming disappointment.
If you catch a falling leaf on the first day of autumn you will not catch a cold all winter.
If you bite your tongue while eating, it is because you have recently told a lie.

In Greece there is a specific day when all pregnant women can't touch anything (or certain things), The rule is that if you touch certain things on this day the baby will have big hairy birthmarks all over it. I'm Greek but I live in America. When my sister had to do this, I could not get over how silly it was.
Some other greek superstitions:
When the baby is born neither the baby nor the mother can go outside for 40 days
When expecting a baby the parents can't bring any of the baby items home until the baby is born, especially the bed. You have to wait until the day the baby is coming home to set up it's room. The items are usually stored at the mother's parent's house.

in medieval times they believed still life drawings was a form of witch craft and was baned, explaining the reason why all medieval drawings are 2D.
they tought that the drawing would walk around and that it was evil so sadly artists were burned at the stake. that's the oddest one i know.
