Vancouver is mostly famous for rain.
As for history, well vancouver (actually new westminster) was where all the gold miners started and ended their trips during the cariboo gold rush.
Vancouver is also famous because it is one of the few cities in North America that doesn't have a freeway running through the middle of the city. This makes a nice waterfront which vancouver is also famous for
don't forget shipping. the port of vancouver is the second largest ship port on the west coast of north america.
