Um, I don't see the comparison qualities here. It's like asking do you jog, or brush your teeth.

Yes. I did both. My crowd all lived within blocks of each other, and only a mile or so from school. Walking was the thing to do.
Lunch was packed 3-4 days per week. Through jr high. The cafeteria food was not that great. But, "Fish Stick Fridays", and "Taco Tuesdays" were the days almost every kid took advantage of. In high school, however. Packing lunches was "fashionable" and we all tried to pack things other than the standard sandwich. My favourite was to stuff a pita pocket with lettuce, olives, avocado, sprouts, red onion, sharp cheddar. Pack a little cup of green onion dip, and some celery sticks, also enough home made cookies to share, a stick or two of beef jerky, and a diet soda. All had to be with a Blue Ice brick, and in a fashionable, insulated lunch tote, of course. I had a wild fuschia and black, tropical print lunch tote.

I normally didnt live close enough to walk to school and very seldom packed a lunch.....school lunches were the norm until about high school when everyone would usually order in or "ditch" during lunch our to pick up pizza or something

Oh yes, many times. Lived on Post, walked, rode my bike.
Packed a lunch or came home for lunch.

Walked to school..walked home for lunch until older, then bought lunch at school or went out for lunch with friends.

we got cafeteria menus each month so if I knew there was nothing i wanted, yeah I took a packed lunch when i was young, in high school I dont think I ever packed a lunch, if I didnt like what they had I went to taco bell LOL
And NO, i never walked :)
