I have sorted and stacked all (ALL) the clothes in our house, and since we're at the change of seasons, EVERYTHING (almost) needs washing. I have about 30 loads total including linens (there are 6 of us)
Our Laundromat has
1. Regular machines for $1.75
2. 3 load machines for $2.50
3. Super big 6 load machines for $5.25

I have never used the giant machines...do they clean well? Will they tear up my clothes? How much soap should I use? Liquid or powder?
I need to buy the detergent, since our washer at home takes only HE...can I get cheap liquid, or do I have to buy Tide?
I just want this laundry DONE. If I do it at home, it will take DAYS (a little over an hour a load in my machine at home in a VERY hot 2nd floor laundry room)
So...whadaya think?

Most definitely use the super washers. They do a great job cleaning your clothes and save you time/money. I used to go to the laundry mat and used that type of washer exclusively. Go early in the morning between 6- 9, load up the machines and then you can either leave for about 45 minutes get some coffee, or just stay and watch the clothes go round. Have fun

I've used the 3-load machines and been quite pleased with the results. I'd certainly have no qualms about trying the super-big machine if I had a load of items that would all go well in the same load. These high-capacity machines were for fore-runners of the front-loaders so popular now. You can cram them full, they run using about 1/3 as much water, and there's no agitator to tear up clothes.

About the only negatives I've seen is that bra underwires can get bent and cords, belts, sashes, ties, or unravelling threads can get real tangled. I tie belts to shorten them.

The machine will have instructions on it about how much detergent to use and what kind. Stop by real quick to read them, or phone and ask. Inquire about exactly what bills and coins it'll handle, too. Be nice if it took fives!

(BTW, I use regular Tide liquid in my front-loader and IMO it works better than HE. I use about 1/3 as much for a normally-soiled load.)

Will you do my house next?

The "Super" machine's clean quite well, just be sure to leave enough room for the clothes to move freely in the wash cycle.. I would use regular detergent it shouldn't be a problem.. Make sure you check and use a pretreater on any stains before you throw em' in the wash.. * I like to store seasonal clothing in NEW extra large outside RUBBERMAID trash bins ! They don't take up much room they hold a ton of clothes, keep out bugs/mice and they are inexpensive. To keep clothes smelling fresh toss acouple BOUNCE dryer sheets into the cans.... You can also LABEL everyone's cans and store in the basement/attic.... Going to the laundromat will not only save you TIME but ELECTRICITY as well.. Good luck...

here's what you do.
use the big machines that do 6 loads.
-n- use the same detergent, since it cleans them @ home it'll clean them their too. if your going to do 6 loads u figure
1 cup = 1 load then i would use 3 cups for 6 loads .the super machines are made to do big loads so i really don't think it'll do any damage to your clothes

I think you should do your washing at home. Put your machine on at night before going to bed, That´s one load of clothes ready to hang first thing in the morning. Po another in. wash all dark clothes first , they take less time to wash . Then all towels next in 1 hr or just over they will be done. Then the sheet´s and so on. Best washing at home , at least you know it will be washed well , without the worry of any damage to your clothes.

Well, my sister did that when she and her girls got head lice. She used the large front loading machines, and just used plain liquid detergent. Her clothes seemed clean to me.

I would do the laundry at home in the late evening hours. Or get up very early when it is still cool to get the laundry done.
