Generally, there is an understanding among reasonable people that some aspects of life are "off limits".

In other words, there's a line -- certain things are open to public review, certain things are not. Most journalists respect this concept, and try to act reasonably.

Some journalists have no respect for privacy, and push the boundaries of decency (and even safety at times).
