I have been adding chemicals to my pool like the chlorine seems to be working, but it can get very expensive.
Just keeping on top of things, I guess.

If your pool is large enough (or more accurately, if your filter has a fast enough rate of water circulation), you can purchase a chlorine generator (saltwater system). On a large, inground pool, this is expensive up front but they work and no more chemicals required. For my above ground pool (12' x 20'), I was able to buy one for about $150...that with about $30 worth of rock salt at the beginning of the year and my pool stayed crystal clear with NO maintenance for three months (until the filter stopped working when I was out of town...but that's another story...and it only took the generator two days to return the water to crystal clear!). I have a add a bag of salt after heavy rain dilutes the concentration in the pool but otherwise I just have to make sure the thing is running and it does all the work with NO chemicals...AWESOME!...best $150 I ever spent!

try cleaning it every once and a while drain all the water and wash it with regular soap the pour mildew and calcium buildup desinfectant then wash it again the rinse it down good dont leave anysoap because it can produce algea when mixed with chlorine it rotts so clean it well and then fill your pool and swim algea free.

im sorry ;; but i think the chemicals are the only thing that can keep your pool clean & safe . i also have a pool ;; its a smaller one im sure mine is 15x4. so its not as expensive ;;
but you may want to ask someone at a local pool & spa seller.
hope this helped ;;
