I just recently moved into a new apt..the toilets in the house have been acting fine up until about 2 days ago. sometimes the toilet will make gurgling noises and start bubbling and seldomly the shower will gurgle also. when we flush the toilet it rises all the way to the top and then slowly drains...my roomates toilet cannot flush at all..what could be causing this? anyway to fix it myself? someone told me its because toilet paper is being put in the toilet *doesnt make sense though* someone help please!!!

It sounds like it is clogged. You will need to call your landlord.
Do NOT flush products even if they say they can be flushed. This goes for tampons, tucks, baby wipes, etc. They will still clog the plumbing and the companies will not be paying for unclogging your drains. Hopefully your complex won't charge you to unclog this.

First do you live in a city or country? Do you have a septic tank or sewer? If you live in the city it may be tree roots that worked their way into you pipes that go to the sewer. If so then you would have to have your landlord have a company come and router the pipes until they find the solution to the problem. Or there may be something clogging the pipes from within the building that some ones child put down the toilets. We found insulation and toys down ours and we live in the country. If you live where you have your own septic tank then it probably needs to be emptied and that also should be the landlord's responsibility. I personally don't throw tampons in the toilet. I put those in the trash wrapped well. Toilet paper I don't think that would do it. Unless you use a lot of paper. Good luck. Something is clogged that's for sure.

Our toilets bubble and the water level lowers, like someone is in the sewer with a vacuum. I've never had clogged toilet issues stemming from this though. Main issue is insufficient water to clear all the Twix Bars, I mean, floaters, lol ... gotta hold the latch down to get everything down into our sewer.

The air vents on the roof of the building probably need to be snaked out, call the landlord. If other people are having the same problem, it could be a blockage in the main sewer line. Again, that's the landlords problem.

you have a blockage someplace in the optimum sewer line. i became a plumber for years and that i've got seen this one hundred situations. the bubbles come from the line being crammed with water. it is going to by no ability bubble upstairs through fact the loos downstairs will overflow until eventually now that happens. pass out in the backyard and discover the optimum line "sparkling out" (you recognize, those pvp pipes you notice in peoples yards with a cap on them) unscrew the cap and notice if it has any status water in it. I guess it is going to. in case you will discover this cleanout, a plumbing employer can ususlly discover it exceptionally uncomplicated. goodluck.

You definitely need to have a plumber check out all your plumbing. Ask him what can and cannot be flush in apartment commodes.

Your drainage system is of insufficient capacity for the number of drains attached to it.
Complain to the building owners. It probably is not up to code!

it sounds like the air vent is plugged you need to have your landlord go on the roof and check it out. that's where the vent comes out the roof.
