Don't do it as soap will be foaming out of dishwasher even with door sealed shut and it could ruin dishwasher. My son did that once and I didn't know what to do to stop the soap suds/bubbles that were foaming out. The solution for that is to pour in some fabric softener, that stops sudsing.
If you're out of dishwasher soap use one half cup baking soda and 1 tsp bleach (both divided between the 2 cups for DW soap). Run dishwasher as usual. This also cleans out inside of dishwasher. You'll be amazed how well this works.

You absolutely cannot use anything that is not formulated for a dishwasher as a dishwashing agent. You will have soap suds deep in your kitchen. Only use a formulated dishwashing agent.

NO!!!! Do not do it. I tried that once and about 5 minutes into the dishwasher cycle I had suds coming out of the dishwasher so fast it was unbelievable. It took forever to clean up and clean out.

Hi. No, I am sorry but DW soap is "suds-less" soap. It is formulated to not have any bubbles. My hubby's college roomate did this their freshman year. There were bubbles all over the kitchen.
Good luck!

No, only dishwashing detergent. Anything else will be too bubbly and overflow.

Unless you have an excessive amount of dishes use really hot water and do by hand. Same effect.
