whats the key to making good websites and what people want to read about and will keep the traffic coming and getting lots of clicks on google adsense

You can study computer programing in college which you can then use to get into web development / programing

or you can study multimedia a.k.a web design a.k.a interactive design and learn how to create graphic interfaces, client side markup and scripting, and flash/web animation

a good start now would be to learn basic html, then learn css, then start to teach your self how to make graphics using photoshop or a similar program, thats the basics there are many directions you can go from there.

You'll need to take some college classes in 'web design' and 'web management' ... if you 'study hard' and take the right classes you should be 'done' and 'certified' in a year ... and then you can start 'doing web design for money ... or even teach.
My husband was a fine artist, who took a 'one year certification course' in Web Management ... that was about 7 years ago. He's worked steadily ever since (he was actually still taking classes when he was hired to teach at the same college) and is now in a 'regular job' and makes about $60,000 a year.

Although college is good, you can also buy some books from amazon.com just search for "web design" or "html" or "css". This will get you started
