you ought to close it off and coast down hills :). As for the O2 sensor, only because of the fact it mentioned O2 sensor code, doesnt continuously advise its a foul sensor. there may well be different issues that reason the PCM to think of the O2 sensor is undesirable. vehicles are no longer clever and cant think of. they have enter and output units that work together. there are a ton of issues that could reason collateral hardship codes. your superb guess is to have it professionally clinically determined. Cutting Gas Mileage in half, is kind of hard to do but try driving faster, accelerate harder from stops, use lower tire pressure than recommended, this should lower your mileage by at least 1/3

If you want to cut your gas mileage in half, get a bigger engine, high performance parts, and lots of intake mods!.

Or just buy an old cadillac, that will cut your gas mileage more than just half (assumin you are getting 20mpg, Half of that is 10, which is about right for an early 70`s 8.2 Liter engine.

just go to a repair shop and tell them you need a fuel system cleaner, and have them do an emissions system cleaner as well, that is the best way I know of. Maybe change the fuel filter and check your spark plugs.
