I think your question should read, in the WORLD, you are as free as the money in your pocket. The poor have as much or more freedom in America as they do most anywhere else in the world. You can complain about inequities in America, but it is a world issue - at least the opportunity for education and advancement exists here, much more so than in Mexico, India, or Sudan. If you are American you are luckier than most no matter what your economic circumstances. Yes, you are not as fortunate as some, but remember there are always people wealthier, prettier, and healthier than you are - it's too easier to forget the countless others who are less fortunate.
