For those who play: what's the closest you have come to getting a goal, but for any reason the puck didn't get in or the goal was disallowed, ect. Just have fun and try to make the stories interesting.

Weeee- It's supposed to be one that you didn't get in, not one that you did...

Mine- I took it off of a defensman a few feet from the bottom of the faceoff circle on the left (towards the net) and the goalie was on the otehr side of the net- the defensman had been taking it around the back. I pulled it to my forehand (I'm a right shot) and was in the process of just tucking it in when the goaile's skate came out of nowhere and blocked the shot. The ref lost sight of it and it was whistled dead. A split second faster on my part and it would have been in.

It happened in a 1962 exhibition game against the Detroit Red Wings, at the Olympia, Pat Rupp was the goalie.
Phil Esposito passed me the puck and I only had to beat a defenceman named Ron Harris. Well, I beat Ron and deked out Rupp and slid the puck behind him. It stopped on a snow hill on the line. After admiring the puck for a few seconds and Pilous yelling from the bench, I moved towards the puck, only to get belted Scott Stevens style by Larry Jeffrey. In the meantime, Harris had rescued the puck and cleared it out of the crease area.
Even today, goalies still make little snowhills on the line to 'trap' slow moving puck. That is the only recollection of my career where that happened. I had goalies make miraculous saves, hit crossbars, posts, etc..........but that was the only time I was sure I had a goal and in the end....it wasn't.
Note: I was never a big goal scorer, in fact..in 6 exhibition games over 4 training camps, I had a mere 3 shots on goals. In 200+ minor league games, I had 37 goals...so any goal for me was a big deal after Junior was over.

I usually play defense but I was asked to play wing as someone didn't show up . So no problem there. I am standing in front of the opposing goalie for the screen. The d shoots the puck and I tip it. It goes straight up. the goalie get the exteme tip of the glove on the puck, and then it sits on the cross bar for a second and it winds up sitting on top of the net. Darn it!

the colsest thing to a goal i have ever got was...
My center on the line won the fase off to me (I'm a right winger and the face off was at the offensive side of the neutral zone on the left side so i was towards open ice)
I skated the puck in on my forehand deked the one defenceman there was one still between the circles so i deked to go from the left circle around the d and into the low slot i got around him
and then i toe dragged to deke the goalie and shot the puck to my left side of the net it deflected off the high left post and shot down toward the front center of the crease. The goalie was out of position going to my right.
the puck quickly deflected off the charging d's left shin gaurd
i thought into the net my arms all ready to go into the air the puck heading into the bottom left corner. the goalie then slammed on the brakes and sprawled out to cover the puck with the tip of his blocker

I buried one once but the puck went through the netting (it wasn't that hard of a shot ... there was already a hole there). It was inside the post and it bounced off the backboards, and the ref was on the opposite side of the net and thought it missed completely. I had my arms up in the air celebrating with two teammates, but the play kept going. I showed the ref the hole after the game, but ...

First off, I play goalie so I'm not that great of a scorer, but Stevie Wonder could of scored this one. Okay, its the elimination game in da playoffs, my team is up 4-1 in the 3rd period. I get a rebound right to my stick no one to my right, no one to my left. I got a wide open net, I hit the post. The opposing team scores on the play. My team loses by one and we get eliminated.
Thats why I play goalie, not forward, and I'm proud to say I'm much better at goalie than forward anyway.

I've hit more than my share of iron, but my most frustrating moment on offense came when my linemate went offsides along the sideboards as I went in on a breakaway.
The game was against the Estonian National champs and we were the first ever Americans to visit their town, so the spectator turnout was huge. To add insult to injury, we lost the game 7-5 with an empty netter. Not only would that 1 on 1 opportunity have been a terrfic hockey memory for me, it might have changed the outcome of the game.
My old teammates still needle me about it, so I guess the moment lives on in infamy.

in my personal experience usually a puck that got kicked or once when i was 6 or 7we were killing a team and we scored with a second or two left but the ref said that time had already run out because we had won the game convincingly. That is pretty close too being a real goal because it was one but it got wave off 4 pity

It relies upon. If he can gel with Thornton, he has a very good threat. besides the shown fact that there is not any assure. 50's a great quantity to get too and if I have been to wager someplace interior the 40's could be a extra secure wager.

Puck went in the net, and then out and stupid %$#@! ref did not even see it. Man was I ticked as I play defence and goal and am not normally in a position to score a lot of goals.
