He has 2,296 career hits, 526 Doubles, 360 HR's, 1,440 HR's, 1,259 Runs Scored and .290 career hitter. He has a shot at 3,000 hits if he plays another 4 years, and will probably get to 450 HR's and 1,700 RBI's. Personally, I have never like Jeff Kent. He has played for 6 teams and had 9 dominating years from 1997-2005, with all but one over 100 RBI's. I think he's really cocky and seems like a arrogant jerk. But in the era of roids, I would say he probably wasn't juicing. He is the all-time leader for 2B with home runs, won the NL MVP in 2000, 5 time all-star and many more accomplishments. He is probably a lock for the Hall. First year of eligibility, he's in.

I'll ask as many questions as my heart desires regarding HOF. These are the only interesting baseball related questions in my opinion.

I see Jeff Kent being inducted into the Hall of Fame. He is by far the most productive second baseman of all time. He is the only second baseman to have 100 or more rbis in 6 consecutive seasons, most homeruns as a second baseman, and although he doesn't have the best range, or glove for a second baseman he sure didn't hinder the giants chances from 97-02 they went to the playoffs 5 times with him. Sure he is cocky and a jerk, but it's not the first or last time a jerk gets inducted.

I know some people don't like the second baseman argument, but I think Jeff Kent will probably get into the HOF at some point because he's a second baseman. I will agree that his defense is, at best, serviceable.

I can certainly understand the point that there are a bunch of players in this era with bloated numbers, but 2nd basemen who put up the numbers he has are few and far between.

He is not a first year on the ballot player. Sorry. The guy has a reputation of being an arrogant jerk among fans & media people alike.

If Andre Dawson and Jim Rice can't get in, I don't see how Kent makes it. I don't buy the Home Run Leader at 2B thing, since he's a fairly poor defensive player- that's just where he happened to be most of the time..

There are solid regulars, All-stars, and Hall-of-Famers. Kent's been an All-star much of his career, nothing more. Maybe he will make it to Cooperstown, but definitely not on the first ballot. There's also little chance he'll be playing regularly even two or three years from now.

Jeff Kent is nothing to hoot and holler over. He had a nice and long and productive career. He, however, played in an era when there was a plethera of Hall of Fame players. There could be a long list of players that should go in before him. At 39, I can only see him having one or two more productive seasons. He will average .270 hit 40 homeruns between the two years and get maybe reach 2,600 hits. That is not HOF criteria.

You can't put everyone in the HoF, Jeff Kent is no means a hall of famer...

How many questions are you going to ask about who's "locks" in the hall of fame?

well, maybe not first ballot, but maybe. hard to say, he's so borderline for a first baseman. jeff kent didnt' play 2nd though, he played first. i think you are mixing up jeff kent and craig biggio. biggio is pretty much in first ballot, but kent, maybe, he gets in, maybe he doesn't.
