I'm already used to that as I have some family members who are like that. The best thing you can do is listen to them and try to help them if you can and if you can't make a suggestion that they seek some sort of psyciatric or psychological help.

I am the type to take it in stride. I would politely listen and talk to the person. When we are done, I would tell the person how nice it was to meet him/ her and be on my way.
